60,000 Words and Counting!

As you may know, I hand write before I type. Three weeks of phase 2, typing and on spot editing, and I’m 60,000 words deep.

I would normally be super excited about that number but after a few tweaks I added a better flow to 3 consecutive chapters that lacked it. That much I’m happy with it, and tonight progress will only continue!

Once I reach my “credit teaser,” I’ll leak my new chapter one! *enter egotistical smile here*

Stay tuned folks!

No Apologies, Just Progress.

Yes, I have been gone for a little while, and it isn’t because I forgot about my blog. It came down to a simple matter of the responsibilities I had promised to complete.
Just a quick update as to what I have been up too!

Per orders of my military contract, I was off playing soldier in the woods for two weeks. It was fun, long, hot, uncomfortable and a very good learning experience. I honestly look forward to doing it again the next go round.

While I was off playing soldier, I had spare time to write out the short story “Rogue Intelligence,” but you won’t see that until after TMU book 1 is completely typed and edited. (To the fullest extent that is, because sometimes grammar mistakes can slip through the gaps.)

In regards to TMU book One, the book I was posting all the progress about before I left, I have been making serious headway in transition it from the handwritten into digital text. (Yes, I like to hand write my stories first. It allows me to fill responsible for personally crafting each letter for myself like artwork. I’ve mentioned this in an earlier post.)

While I can handwrite close to 10,000 words in a day I can only force myself to type between 2000-5000 a day before my mind or hands desire a break. Typing can really burn you out mentally while acting as a filter between your imagination and the text document. I don’t want to overdo anything in the ways of explanations or descriptions.

I gave myself an extra week off after I finished writing the short story to mentally prepare myself for the overpowering duty of typing every day, sometimes throughout the whole day. Since starting this little escapade last Monday I have reached a grand total of 40,000 words typed, out of the 100,000 word goal. I just finished my Wednesday slack day of only 2000 words. (Which takes between 1-3 hours, depending on how fast I want to get back to enjoying my social life.)

I just hope I keep up this intensity!

See, no routine apologies that usually follow my brief moments of radio silence. Just an update on all the progress!
I’m back, So stay tuned!

It is complete! (Teaser)

Let the drums of triumph echo their beat in the distant. Let the fire works of victory light the night sky. Let the dance of accomplishment flow through the soul!

Why?!

The story has been completely written. .. Yes. I said it. Front to back the story is finally completed. Total word count is 123,000ish.

Now the fun part, 2-4 weeks of intensive editing and scene changes. 3 editors to comb through it.

I want no stone unturned for my first release for a novel. Word count is expected to drop a few thousand.

I’ll be back later to provide further detail! And a new feature to the TMU is coming.

Stay tuned!

Soon to come!

Hello Everyone,

As you know, or hopefully knew, you are following what originally started out as being a short stories blog, with lengthy short stories posted on a monthly basis. (Yes, they were generally long.)

As time progressed this blog has grown, and as of 10pm (eastern standard) tonight I’ll stop being lazy and make it my own domain. To celebrate this very very late mile stone, I will featuring a small piece from a bigger story that belongs to fellow writer, poet, and friend of mine.

It’s exciting stuff, and it will be good to get in touch with my roots again. I.e posting a short story!

So thank you everyone; for the traffic, the few people inspired enough to hit the “like button” and those even fewer who comment or message me their thoughts/comments. It means a lot. I know there aren’t thousands of you (yet) but to the many who activity flow through my website you make it enjoyable to keep the tradition going.

And as alway, stay tuned!

Book Recommendation! Atlas 2

The second most impressive modern military science fiction novel to hit the shelves or at least the audio book shelves.

You are following from the perspective of the two main characters from the first novel who have now split. It was a wonderful surprise as was the first.

Rade or as his call sign goes “Rage” is a broken hearted member of the worlds most elite force known as the “Moths.” They make the “special forces seem like Girl Scouts,” as it says in one or two parts.

Rage is a distraught individual due to the lost of his childhood friend; both grew up together as orphans. To add on to his already battered mind, the love of his life, who Rage believes is dead, is actually alive and surviving on her own.

This story is vivid and well thought out. I recommend all who like MSF to jump in and get you in on some Moth Action in an Alas! Well at least imagine it.

A promotion!?

So I have some wonderful news, since my department is still relatively brand new there is a promotion along with the new job!

Unfortunately I haven’t touched my writing in a few days. That all changes tomorrow as I crunch threw an entire chapter like a Viking raiding a wealthy coastal village!

On a side note; who would like to be in my warband? I can’t plunder by myself.

Well not anymore. Not since I took that arrow to the knee.

Sleep has become gold

I’m sorry! I apologize and I will one day earn forgiveness. I made a promise to make posts and I have done nothing of the sort!

But I remember all of you when I started writing again!

Yes I was able to feel like writing was more appealing than a nap. The new job is more physical than the last, completely boring, one I had. Also surprisingly, I got promoted pretty early in. Well I call it an upgrade since I’m still working the main floor.

I hope everyone had had a wonderful holiday bang and a beautiful start to the new year. Stay tuned as my writing is starting to pick up to the new work schedule !

Terran Myth Update

I apologize everyone, this new job is actually a lot tougher while I’m in the early stages of training. (They are understaffed and training me to be a supervisor with 100 other people. Yay!)

Bad news, I haven’t had time or motivation to touch my nov as of late. I am going to be pushing my latest possible even imaginable! EPD! for my book back to March. Just as a precaution.

This is to account for the 4 weeks of training and its probable chance of causing interference. Yes I have had a bit of a shell shock this week and I usually pass out when I get home!

So again I apologize on behalf of the promises I have made for the novel. It’s at 67k words out of the original 73 I had. I chose to remove some scenes that drug out! (So at least i polished it up.)

I plan to maintain a daily post to at least inform you of my progress and ideas as usual.

In good news I just save 75% on my car insurance by switching to progressive! These guys are awesome! (At the moment.)

It’s all for the best!

Terran Myth 2nd Update

I have solidified my position at being halfway done!

After a scene revision, and lots of research to ensure what I was writing made sense. I have officially set my foundation for a solid halfway point.

Also, the first book may cross just slightly over 100k words due to the awesome action sequence I didn’t realize I was being sucked into. And there are still a few more sequences I have yet to write. We shall cross that bridge when we come too it.

Smile folks! It was pretty awesome to be able write these things!

I refrain from releasing any spoiler alerts or plot details because it is part of why I like writing. (To tease the anticipation of the masses.) Tomorrow I shall be one chapter closer to my quickly approaching “micro-goal” to being 4/5ths of the way done. Hopefully I’ll be typing most of the chapters going into Christmas.

Terran Myth Update

*Warning: Contains Excitement*

I began this journey early November with a surprising new technique to me in an “assembly line” style to the writing process. (I‘ll explain that after the first book is out – just know it is working as planned)

My end goal is 100k words for The Terran Myth book one.

48k words was where I was at a few hours ago (I didn’t write Thanksgiving week nor my drill week *shame in voice*) but I began it again today and I’m happy to say I’m on the 55K mark!

Our journey will be long, it will be fun, and I promise you it will be exciting. Expected Release Date is January TBA.
